Section I. The Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Titles (Revised August 2023, effective 9/1/23)

The Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Titles are designed to showcase the breadth of activities that Belgian Malinois participate and excel in. There are four levels of Versatility Titles available: Pacific Malinois Club Versatility (PMC-V), Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Excellent (PMC-VX), and Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Master (PMC-VM) and Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Champion (PMC-VCH). Each level of title is based primarily on the number of different categories a dog has earned titles in. Each category represents related activities such as obedience, conformation, or agility, so dogs must show they are versatile by working and/or earning titles from many different types of activities.

All applicants for versatility awards must be current members in good standing.  A member may apply for versatility awards for any Belgian Malinois, living or past, of which they were an owner of record.

Pacific Malinois Club Versatility (PMC-V) The dog who earns 10 points in at least 3 different categories 1-10, shall be designated a Pacific Malinois Club Versatility dog and may place the letters “PMC-V” after its name. For each additional 10 points earned after the first 10 points, the title designation shall become PCM-V2, PMC-V3, PMC-V4, etc.

Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Excellent (PMC-VX) The dog who earns 15 points in at least 5 different categories 1-10, shall be designated a Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Excellent dog and may place the letters “PMC-VX” after its name. For each additional 15 points earned after the first 15 points, the title designation shall become PMC-VX2, PMC-VX3, PMC-VX4, etc.

Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Master (PMC-VM) The dog who earns 20 points in at least 6 different categories 1-10, shall be designated a Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Master and may place the letters “PMC-VM” after its name. For each additional 20 points earned after the first 20 points, the title designation shall become PMC-VM2, PMC-VM3, PMC-VM4, etc.

Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Champion (PMC-VCH) The dog who earns 30 points in at least 7 different categories 1-10 and has earned a conformation breed championship from AKC/UKC/CKC or an FCI recognized kennel club, or has earned the IABCA International Championship and has won the herding group at an IABCA show, shall be designated a Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Champion and may place the letters “PMC-VCH” after its name. For each additional 30 points earned after the first 30 points, the title designation shall become PMC-VCH2, PMC-VCH3, PMC-VCH4, etc.

Additionally, the following rules apply to all Pacific Malinois Club Versatility Titles:

  • Points do not have to be evenly distributed amongst categories provided at least one point comes from each different category used for a title.
  • All points are cumulative. Points earned for the PMC-V title count towards the PMC-VX, PMC-VM, and PMC-VCH titles as well.
  • Each title supersedes the previous title. After achieving enough categories for the PMC-VX title, points will no longer be applied towards PMC-V titles and after achieving enough categories for the PMC-VM title, points will no longer be applied towards PMC-VX titles. For example, a dog with an PMCV4 title with points from four categories gets a point in another category, bringing the total categories up to five. Now the dog’s PMC-V4 title is replaced with an PMC-VX2, for having at least 20 points in five categories and points are no longer earned towards the PMC-V titles.
